The One You’ll Call Yours

While cooking dinner, I often watch my husband play with my son in the back garden. I love seeing them together, playing, laughing and having fun. Watching them this evening game me the idea for this post . . .

There are men who will talk you in circles. They’ll make you feel special and steal your thoughts throughout the day.

There are men who drive shiny cars and wear expensive cologne. They’ll show off their toys and try to impress you.

There are men who wear the designer brands, who can only have the best. They’ll insist on buying you nice things. Anything you wish to possess will be yours.

But these kind of men won’t make you happy, not really.

Marry the man who makes you laugh. You’ll encounter hard times in marriage and his sense of humor will be what gets you through it.

Marry the man who challenges you. You’ll need someone who sees outside of the confines of your own mind to help you realize what you really need.

Marry the man who is kind. When the hardness of life wears you down, you’ll need his kindness to be a haven of escape.

Marry the man who calls you to be a better person. Because society screams at us ‘MORE!’ and you’ll need him to remind you there is someone with greater need than the two of you.

Marry the man who knows how to play. Sometimes you’ll be so exhausted you want to cry, and he will take your children and captivate their little imaginations just so you can get a break.

Marry the man who truly appreciates life. So maybe you will have less money, but you will have memories and laughter – the things money can’t buy – the things that truly matter.

Marry the man who knows and loves God. He will lead a humble life and will be good to you. He will love you deeply, faithfully, and fully.

He is who will make you happy. He is the one you’ll want to call yours. For all of your days.
