When Deep Calls Out To Deep

Life hits us in waves. Sometimes they are waves of joy that come in steady rhythms. Waves that we can run, dance, and play in.

Other times they are torrents that come crashing, smashing against you incessantly. When these kinds of waves come, there is a risk of being overwhelmed by the currant and pulled into deep waters.

Deep waters call out to what is deeper still; at the roar of your waterfalls all your breakers and your waves swirled over me.
Psalm 42.7

What is it about the ocean that leaves us in awe? Instills a sense of peace in us? It is vast, immense, and reminds us that however big our worries may be, there is something bigger still.

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will standAnd I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mineYour grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
And You are mine
